Change in Leadership at the Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada (SARVAC)
Long-time SARVAC President, Harry Blackmore, announced that he was stepping down immediately as President in order to dedicate more time to SARVAC NIF Projects. The Board appointed Scott Wright of the Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers (SARSAV) as the new Acting President. Scott has been serving the SARVAC’s Vice-President.
CSA Group and the Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada (SARVAC) are pleased to unveil the new Ground Search and Rescue Competency Standard developed in collaboration with the National Search and Rescue Secretariat (NSS). Representatives of the three organizations believe it is an important step in standardizing search and rescue operations across Canada, and providing volunteers with the skills and training to be effective wherever they work.
