OUTSTANDING SEARCH AND RESCUE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

2008 Recipient
Silvie Montier, Canadian Search and Disaster Dogs Association

Mark Twain once said: "Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in."

That quote is surely one that Silvie Montier would agree with. However, in this case, Mr. Twain may want to grant an exception for Silvie when one considers her tremendous work, with her dog Dante, in the Search and Rescue community. Silvie has committed so much time and effort through the years to helping a multitude of people in SAR missions in Canada and internationally, as well as to bringing SAR dog training in Canada to an international standard.

Not only has Silvie participated in multiple International Rescue Dog Organisation training events, but she is also a founder of the Canadian Search and Disaster Dogs Association. A person who truly has made her lifelong goal of helping people in need, and saving lives, Silvie has over the years traveled to many places, including Algeria, Mexico, Haiti and Peru, to lend a hand to those in crisis. Many owe their lives to her dedication and compassion.
