SARSCENE:THE WORKSHOP

Games - September 11, 2002

The SARSCENE Games, which took place at Sir Sanford Flemming Park, Halifax, were very successful this year thanks in no small part to Blair Doyle and Halifax Regional Search and Rescue.

The Games tested SAR skills including first aid, clue identification, search planning, line throwing (set up by the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary), rope tying, navigation and problem-solving.

Out of a record 13 teams, the Foothills SAR team won the gold medal and defended their title from last year.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary team captured second place and the silver medal.

Taking a strong third place was the bronze medal-winning Lakehead SAR team.

The team from Parks Canada Agency certainly gave the rest of the groups a run for their money!

The NSS put in their first ever team in the Games and the team really enjoyed the hands-on experience.
