This year is the 20th anniversary of the first rescue employing the Cospas-Sarsat
search and rescue satellite system. Peter Howe, NSS Director, Federal
Coordination, presented a video on the history of Cospas-Sarsat. A reception
to honour the pioneers and innovators of the Canadian component of the
system was held in Ottawa on September 5, 2002.
