The 7th annual SARSCENE Games were the feature event for Day 1 of SARSCENE 2003. Held at the Lemoine Point Conservation Area, the games brought seven Canadian and one Icelandic team together to compete in various SAR events. Even with the high winds and driving rains, competition was fierce in both the traditional games and the canine competition.
In first place was the Toronto Heavy Urban SAR team, followed by Parks Canada - Bruce Peninsula in second place, and third place a team comprising two firefighters from Oakville and Mississauga and two 424 Squadron SARTechs. New this year was the Canine Competition organized by Kim Cooper of the Ottawa Valley Search and Rescue Dog Association. Six teams competed, with teams Maisonneuve and Neumann tying for first. Team Lefebvre took second place, and team Lavigne came in third. Thanks to the volunteers, all who participated and to Bayridge and Princess
Street Loeb stores for their donation of bottled water, and to the Alzheimer
Society of Kingston who provided lunch. |
