A 15 minute walk from the Delta Prince Edward Hotel, Victoria Park was the setting for this year’s SAR demonstrations and displays, Saturday,
October 8th

This year, SARSCENE dedicated the SAR Demonstrations and Exhibits to all veterans past and present in honour of The Year of the Veteran.

Air and Marine Demonstration

Charlottetown Harbour at 13:30

Organized by Captain Chris Healey (air coordinator) and Coast Guard Officer Ray McFadgen (marine coordination) of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, Halifax, the SAR Demonstrations are scheduled for 13:30-14:30, and will include (weather and operational requirements permitting):

  • Canadian Coast Guard vessels from CG Maritimes Region

  • Canadian Forces rescue helicopter – CH-146 Griffon

  • Canadian Forces Hercules aircraft from 413 Search & Rescue Squadron in Greenwood, N.S.

The demonstration will simulate the rescue of crew members from a vessel in distress.

PFD Fashion Show

Victoria Park at 14:45 
See your colleagues from the SAR community demonstrate the latest in personal flotation devices and rescue wear for the rescue professional and general public.

 

SAR K9 Demonstration

Victoria Park at 15:15 

Three K9 teams from the Hamilton Police Search and Rescue Unit (Ontario) will demonstrate the skill required of a SAR K9 in:

  • Obedience

  • Agility

  • Searching for missing persons

Crowd participation will be included in the demonstrations.

Demonstrations of local Police Service Dogs will also be included (to be announced).

From 10:00 to 16:00, static displays are open to the public at Victoria Park, including:

Royal Canadian Mounted Police – Marine Division

 

Canadian Coast Guard

  • Boat and SAR command post

 

Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources

  • Helicopter
