Canada’s search and rescue professionals gather in Gatineau - October 4-7, 2006
Search and rescue experts from across Canada and around the world will be in Gatineau, Quebec for the annual four-day workshop co-hosted by the National Search and Rescue Secretariat and the Sûreté du Québec. Canadian Forces, Canadian Coast Guard, RCMP and police services, air, marine and ground search and rescue volunteers are among the participants.

Search and Rescue Games - Teams from across Canada compete in six events showcasing their search and rescue skills in areas such as navigation, basic rescue, medical response, survival skills, evidence handling and water rescue. Media are invited to participate as a victim. |

- Canadian Forces search and rescue aircraft, CH-146 Griffon
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police — Air Division, Eurocopter "A STAR" - AS 350
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police — Marine Division
- La Sûreté du Québec — Air Division, Bell 412 HP
- Communications Research Centre and the Canadian Space Agency, portable communications system including satellite dish with two-way (Internet) access
13:00 Air and Marine Demonstration Organized by Captain Livio Paronuzzi (air coordination) from Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, Trenton, and Captain Pierre Allaire (marine coordination) of the Sûreté du Québec, the demonstrations will include:
- Canadian Forces SAR CH-146 Griffon helicopter from 439 Squadron in Bagotville, QC
- Canadian Forces Hercules SAR aircraft from 424 Squadron in Trenton, ON
- Sûreté du Québec vessels
The demonstration will simulate the rescue of crew members from a vessel in distress.
14:15 SAR K9 Demonstration: obedience, agility and search for a missing person
- Hamilton Police Search and Rescue Unit (Ontario)
- Sûreté du Québec: The K9 Demonstrations are organized by Dave Walker and Sgt. Denis Grenier.
15:15 Survival Gear Fashion Show
- The latest personal flotation devices and rescue wear for the rescue professional and the general public.
- Gear supplied by Salus Marine Wear, Mustang Survival, and Helly Hansen Canada
